We've been using Flexigrant since 2019, and we're a group of three grant-making charities under one organisational umbrella.. I joined the organisation in 2022, and at that time, we weren’t using online forms. Instead, we were using the system in a very traditional way—application forms were sent out in the post. When COVID came, we transitioned to emailing applications, which were then uploaded by the grant officers. It wasn’t until last year that we became fully online, and it has saved us so much time. It's been brilliant.

I also want to mention the committee workspace we introduced last year for our trustees—it saves everyone so much time. It saves me time, the finance department time, and the trustees time. It’s brilliant. What I would say we’ve done differently is, although the intention is for people to review the applications directly within the committee workspace, we discovered that preparing a panel paper works better for us. This enables them to drag out all the information they want for the application into a single Word document, allowing trustees to scroll through it easily. They prefer this approach to dipping in and out of individual applications.

That’s just the way we’ve tailored it, but overall, I find the Flexigrant system really fascinating and incredibly flexible.

What we’ve also done—those of us who know Flexigrant quite well—is sit down and observe our finance department work through their processes. By doing this, we’ve managed to save them time too. Flexigrant can produce reports to simplify their job. It's a great system.
